Fundraising drive in full swing

9th September 2015
My inbox was full of emails my facebook page had hundreds of notifications - that cold only mean one thing. The Western Gazette had published my press release. I was very impressed coverage on both the Sherborne and Crewkerne pages and this was in then picked up by Crewkerne TI - fingers crossed I can now hit the £500 target http://www.westerngazette.co.uk/Sherborne-woman-gruelling-run-Glastonbury/story-27759516-detail/story.html

My first attempt

8th September 2015
After a frantic weekend - two days walking around Dorset County Show I decided that Sunday night I would attempt to see how far 5k is and how long it would take me to run it. Answer 1 - A bloody long Way Answer 2 - 49 minutes of mostly wheezing, crawling, cursing and followed by total collapse. Monday morning - couldn't move Oh dear !

Well its stopped raining

4th September 2015
Its been a good week for training as the rain seems to have finally stopped. The Western Gazette photographer put in an appearance on Monday so hopefully he photographed my best side (no comments please). Unfortunately as I was in such a rush I forgot my gym kit. Fearing visions of me running around Misterton Rec in just Knickers, vest and bare feet filled me with dread. I hot footed it to The Factory Shop and purchased an interesting mish mash of clothing - and ended up looking like MC Hammer ! Training is going well and I'm progressing with my boxing - though I still yet haven't managed to hit Mark full in the face - but there is always time. Also a quick shout out to all those who have so generously sponsored me - I am very grateful and truly humbled. Right back to training - update you all soon

Prosecco and training don't mix

30th August 2015
My stupid stupid iPhone - well that's what I'm blaming ! I decided to add in an extra training session on Saturday and awaiting a confirmatory message from Mark. Well my iPhone delivered it at 7am after a night on the fizz. Training was punishing and to be honest it's no good whining about it - I'm conscious of the time ticking by now and every effort has to be 120% - I am never drinking again.

Blog 2 - its raining again

26th August 2015
First thing on a Tuesday morning is cold, its windy and its raining this can only mean one thing - I'm training again in the middle of August. 5 weeks ago I could barely run for a minute but this morning Mark, my trainer (MarkOne Fitness) decided we were doing hill sprints. Its funny how a hill driving in a car doesn't look to bad - until you get out of the car and then look up. After weights and shadow boxing I was beginning to resemble a drowned rat and Mark said right lets go back to our cars. Yippee I thought off to work, Mark however had other ideas. One luminous vest later I was sprinting, running, collapsing, crawling (you get the picture) up and down the hill towards Misterton Village Hall. The incline was so steep I was expecting crampons, a guide line and a team of helpful Sherpers ! I'm sure I saw two mountain goats on the way up. But with my usual sense of will power and stubbornness I made it. Afterwards back to work where my double espresso never tasted so good !

So its too late now the entry money has been paid, the T-shirt ordered and press release all written. As I'm sat here in the office listening to the pouring rain I'm thinking - what have I let myself in for ! Then I realise why I am doing it - the care, support and love given to those less fortunate at The Children's Hospice. We take for granted that our children will be born healthy and that they will grown into adulthood with no health issues or problems, but sadly for many that's not to be. Children's Hospice South west provides support, respite, reassurance and care for families in the area and is a valued and vital resource. However as most of you are aware the Hospice survives only from the generosity of others - so please donate what you can. Thank you - now I better get my running shoes on.
